Minimalist

Still My Favorite:  Mark Bittman.  In today's NYTimes The Minimalist column featured 101 simple salad recipes, almost all vegan, with accompanying dressing recipes.  I can't wait to get started!  Typical of Bittman's cooking, they all look super simple and extra tasty!  Just in time for summer, thanks Mark Bittman and New York Times!

CONWAY - Have You Seen This?

This is just for you:  Pamela Anderson for Vivienne Westwood???

Tranny.  Mess.

Okay Canada, we've made the NYTimes!  Tim Horton's has opened its first store in NYC and there's a story all about it here.

It cites the glamorous array of doughnuts available as well as the company's coffee, which is a "phenomenon" in Canada?  Trash trashy trash.

Blueberry-flavored iced coffee and breakfast sandwiches with processed cheese.  Mmmmmm...

Why do we have to be known for things like this?  I didn't find an article about the fact that Canada has come up with an AIDS vaccine.

He Did It!!!

Congratulations Roger Federer!!  After an epic five sets, Roger defeated Andy Roddick to move back into first place ranking for the sport, as well as clinch his fifteenth grand slam, setting a new world record.

Sorry Andy!  It would have been great for you too, but if you won, Roger wouldn't have!  Maybe next year.  Great tennis, great sportsmen.

Hopefully Rafa is feeling better and will be back soon also.

Now, onto the Tour de France...

Perez Haters

As we all know by now, upon news that Michael Jackson had been rushed to hospital last Thursday, Perez Hilton made public claims via his blog that MJ was faking an illness to avoid his upcoming tour.  Here is a post on the subject today on his blog:

Michael Jackson is dead. And that sucks. It really does.

The saddest part of the sudden death of Michael Jackson is the loss of the artist who created such iconic music. Though there are rumors of secret musical vaults and unheard tracks, reports are now coming in that Jackson was working on two separate albums while also preparing for his tour.

One album was to stay true to his roots, staying in the pop genre, but the other would have been made up of instrumental compositions. On his pop record, Jackson collaborated with Claude Kelly and Akon, who recalls Jackson being motivated for the new tour by his fans and his children, who had never seen him perform live. The classical album was headed by composer David Michael Frank, who was invited to Jackson'sHolmby Hills home several months ago to assist with the orchestration.

The only consolation?

It's only a matter of time before these recordings are finished and released!

It seems his tune has changed...  Here's some of the comments he received:

dID IT ALSO SUCK WHEN U WERE TALKING SHIT ABOUT HIM.. MAKING FUN OF HIM.. AND HE WAS EITHER DYING OR DEAD? ur such an idiot.. i only come to ur page now to call u out on all ur fuckups u fat son of a bitch.. ur full of shit and i can't stand u anymore.. i hope more people beat the shit out of u.. it's the only thing fat retards like urself deserve

RU kidding,Perez? Now you say that it's sad,but when MJ announced his London shows, you made fun of him,not to mention your "he faked it all" -hypothesis.

Hypocrite.

Perez. FUCK YOU. Ow now you're sad because he's gone? Stupid hypocrite.

r.i.p. michael we miss you

  1. U R SUCH A FRIGGIN HYPOCRIT FIRST U SAID HE " FAKED IT" and NOW IT "SUCKS" THAT HE IS DEAD,, GO TO HELL U DEVIL,,, AND I LOVE THE WAY GREEDY SUNOFABICHES LIKE U R STILL USING MJ AS A COMMIDITY MAKING $$$$ OFF OF HIM BURN ASSHOLE

And here's one from June Gordon:

Everything that worthless tranny child molester recorded in the past 10 years was unlistenable shit.

If he had anything people would buy he would have released it.

Now, the vultures and the emotionally unstable professional mourners can pretend it's good because he was [SOB!] America's Favorite Child Molester!

She seems like a nice, educated lady, right?

One Down

In day one at Wimbledon, Roger defeated Yen-Hsun Lu in three games.  Not only did he play good - but he looked, as always, great.  Nike recently presented him with some ferosh new gold-accented gear, just in time for his battle in Britain.

Baby!!!!

The most beautiful baby in the world is going to be born in early 2010.  Tom and Gisele (the two most attractive people EVER) are expecting!  They have been spending time "being married" since their top-secret February 2009 nuptials, but it doesn't seem to have lasted very long!

Oh No!

Poor Nadal has had to withdraw from Wimbeldon, citing tendonitis in both his knees, to the point of his uncle/coach asking him to bend down and pick up a ball and him responding, "I can't"!  Oh my gawd!  Very sad, get well soon Rafa.  He is confident he will recover, but he will be missed next week.

On the upside, I don't have to stress about who to cheer for between him and Roger.

Facebook

I love the fact that Roger Federer has his own Facebook page that he, himself maintains.  After recent claims that it was not his own, and that his people were posting for him, he posted a video to correct the opinions (plus, if you've ever heard him speak publicly, you know by reading his posts that they're coming from him).  xoxo

A Crush?

An article earlier this week depicts Miss Wintour (pictured above with Mr. Federer backstage at the Oscar de la Renta Spring 2008 Ready to Wear show) having a soft spot for Roger, allegedly rarely missing his matches.  She was in France for his win earlier this week - to have her life!  PS, LOVE her trench.

Got It!

Got my copy of Martha Stewart Cupcakes a few days ago - very happy!  The recipes look delicious, really creative, and pretty user-friendly.  I know what I'm doing this weekend...

What The???

Didn't their characters date on Melrose Place??

Johnny Depp

Johnny Depp is Vanity Fair's cover for June 2009, and FINALLY starting to show some signs of aging - unfortunately.  Still, over 40 never looked so good, well, since Clooney.

Speaking of Tennis...

Found this New York Magazine cover and article from August 2008 noting Rafa's sex appeal and domination of his sport today.

Roger Takes The French Open

An emotional Roger Federer took the French Open today in 3 straight, tying Pete Sampras's record of 14 majors.  What a great achievement for Roger after a devastating Australian open earlier this year, during what has turned into an increasingly successful season for him.  The New York Times is calling him the "best of all time".  Obviously.

Nasty

Chicken topped with pepperoni and ham on french fries covered in cheese.
For more click here.  The is nastiest one I found this week.

US Weekly, In Touch

Couldn't possibly care less.

The Devil and The O

In a recent 60 Minutes interview, Vogue editor Anna Wintour disclosed that in 1998 prior to The O's cover, it was suggested she drop 20 lbs so she would feel more comfortable, which she promptly complied with, and all was successful.  Read this article for more details, and also a short video of the interview.  My personal favorite part being when she talks about a recent trip to the US and she describes most of the people she saw as "little houses".  Oh dear!  Cute.

Baby Animals

Was just doing some reading, and found out that several animals are on the endangered species list that I had no idea about:

Pygmy Hippo calfs are a great sign for the species.  They are dangerously at risk and are only known to live in just four West African countries that offer their rainforest habitat.  A pygmy hippo is considered a shy creature that can grow to be 39 inches tall and can weigh up to 600 pounds.

Meerkats, are very widely known through the Disney movie "The Lion King" and the character Timon.  Meerkat pups are only inches tall and can grow to be about 1 foot long.  The generosity between members of a meerkat mob intrigues scientists seeking insight into cooperative societies.

Polar Bears are being watched by conservationists because global warming affects their habitat, which ranges across Alaska, Canada, Greenland, Norway and Russia.  Though they are great swimmers, the ice melting in the Arctic prevent bears from traveling long distances in search of food.

Panda Bears The Chinese have a protected area for Panda Bears to live and breed, with the hopes that this will prolong their lifeline, but part of that area was damaged badly with the earthquakes that the country suffered last spring/summer, and the Giant Panda Breeding Center in Wolong, 1 panda died and others had to be relocated.

Bornean Orangutans have been left endangered because of major land clearing for farming and poaching.  Their range has been reduced in northern Sumatra and parts of Borneo.  Orangutans and highly intelligent, living high in the trees, leading solitary lives, swinging high about ground via branches.  They are escape artists and great problem solvers, and have been known to pinch villagers' boats to take a ride across a river.

Siberian Tigers live in the snowy forests in easter Russia, China and North Korea.  These cats are the world's largest, some males weighing more than 400 pounds!

Emperor Penguins are beautiful, intelligent animals.  They must cooperate to survive on the Antarctic ice and the surrounding area.  They huddle to escape the wind and conserve warmth while spending time on open ice.

Mountain Gorillas have no natural enemies, but human violence, destruction of its habitat and poaching have made it an endangered species.  Only about 700 of these peaceful creatures remain.

Giraffes live on the African savannah south of the Sahara.  These mild-mannered animals are an amazing sight because of the beauty of their size and grace.

Gray Kangaroos roam the forests and grasslands of Australia, making them an icon of the nation.  They can grow up to 7 feet tall, and hop at speeds of more than 35 mph, covering 25 feet in a single bound.

These animals are amazing and need our help as humans to stay on our planet.  It would be suffering a horrible loss if any of these creatures were actually to become extinct.  No more baby giraffes or joeys, and the beautiful bears.  Tragic.

We need to help to protect our endangered fellow-animals on this planet, and take care of our rain forests and our deserts.

Here are some links to start researching what you might be able to do to help:

Al Gore has many projects on the go that you can follow and educate yourself on these world issues, ideas that can help you make changes in your daily life that can help:

PETA, while being a pretty bold activist group, also has ideas about how by cutting down the abount of meat humans consume, even just switching to one or two meatless meals a week, would significantly assist in global warming that has been caused by the mass expansion of factory farming (not even going to get started on alleged unethical treatment of factory farmed animals for the purpose of human consumption, if you want to get into that, check out their website

Mark Bittman's book "Food Matters" talks about the cause and effect of factory farmed animals, and by extension, the state it's left the world in, by increasing global warming, etc.  He breaks things down and makes it really easy to understand the strain we're putting on our planet, for example, tearing down rainforest land to grow corn and soy for cows to eat so they can slaughtered for our consumption.

Mess

Okay, not only does any guy who spends as much time with his mommy as Shia LaDouche has something seriously wrong with them, but she's a frickin' gypsy or a pirate or something.

Yikes!

This is pretty scary.  In the New York Times today.

Oh Shit

Had a giant bag of ketchup chips for dinner again.

Paris - Heidi, What?

So, Heidi Montag has another video and single out, Black Out, and shocker, the video is of her in a bikini, running around the beach, chillin' in the pool, and dry-humping a rope.  At least in Paris Hilton's video she was mostly clothed, and the song was pretty much recognizable as being an attempt at music.  Heidi is SO BAD at everything!  With lyrics like, "black out the satellite, and be my lonestar" ??  Oh Heidi!

Can't Stop.

Every summer I have the same weakness - Starbucks Shaken Black Tea Lemonade, guzzle away Bitches!  Get it half-sweet though, check out the nutritional info!!
